I have dry-loop DSL from AT&T.
In the past year, I've had to have techs come out twice because some other repair person "accidentally" cut access to my house because they couldn't hear a dial tone on the line. The guy who came to repair it this time said that this happened all the time, and that non-DSL techs just don't know what to do.
A friend of mine who has Sonic (another DSL provider) said that AT&T does this all the time. I'm beginning to believe that AT&T intentionally does not inform their technicians about dry-loop connections, because they do not want to provide them themselves, and that they don't like companies like Sonic using their lines.
This is unacceptable.
